Fitness training and healthy eating is something many of us put off every day of our lives. Our busy life and many responsibilities keep getting in our way towards being healthy and fit. By now you’re probably thinking that food is one of the few sources of pleasure in your day. Many times we see yummy food as a reward for our effort in the middle of the day. Don’t worry, eating well should also be delicious, if it’s not, you’re bound to fail the diet. The secret towards eating well is balance, not scarcity. There are certain golden rules though:
First of all, drink plenty of water (about two liters a day will do the trick). Your body is made up of 70% water, the main ingredient of all our body fluids, including urine, tears, sweet, digestive juices, lymph, etc. Water is involved in almost all bodily function, hence its importance. Secondly, avoid processed foods as they are everything but natural. For example, the higher the number of cheap cuts of meat ground into a single patty, the higher the risk of contamination with E. coli. A regular fast food burger contains the trimmings of dozens of cows raised around the world. Last but not least, avoid refined sugar: it adds calories to your diet and displaces other nutritious foods.
As for your fitness routine, you can do exercises without even going to the gym actually. Do one set of the following after getting up in the morning and before going to bed at night: push-ups, lunges, crunches. Also, try taking the stairs instead of the elevator (if you have stairs at home you can use them as a ‘step’), and especially walking more often instead of using the car or public transport.
